Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM) Services

Ensure full compliance with international maritime regulations through accurate identification, documentation, and maintenance of hazardous materials onboard your vessels.

Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM)

The Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM) is a mandatory document that identifies, quantifies, and locates hazardous substances present on board a ship, including their type, quantity, and location.

It plays a critical role in ensuring safe vessel operations and environmentally responsible ship recycling by managing hazardous materials throughout the lifecycle of the vessel.

Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date IHM is essential for regulatory compliance and operational safety.

Section 5.3 of the Hong Kong Convention Section 5.6 of European Ship Recycling Regulation

All ships exceeding 500 gross tons must possess a valid and certified IHM when entering EU ports or anchorages. Non-EU flagged vessels can comply with the HKC's IHM regulations to obtain EU SRR certification.

 Why IHM is Important

Regulatory Compliance & Safety

  • Mandatory for ships above 500 GT entering EU ports
  • Required under global maritime regulations
  • Helps avoid penalties and operational risks

Part I – Structure & Equipment

Prepared during construction or operation and Must be continuously updated

Part II – Operational Waste

Prepared before the ship’s final voyage

Part III – Stores

Covers consumables and onboard materials
